Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee
Suspends and Fines Columbus Crew Forward
NEW YORK (May 18, 2010) – The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee today suspended Columbus Crew forward Guillermo Barros Schelotto for one game and fined him $250 for his off the ball actions against Chivas USA defender Michael Umaña on May 15.
The incident, which occurred in the 79th minute of the game, was not seen by the officiating crew and Schelotto was not called for a foul. After reviewing the play, the MLS Disciplinary Committee decided that the action constituted a red card offense. CLICK HERE to view the incident.
As a result, Schelotto will miss the Crew’s next league match, against the New York Red Bulls on Thursday, May 20.
