This MLS Thursday May 20, it’s difficult to pick the winners or overs, because easy in both games 3 goals can be scored and that make us think about going over, but I am picking both host teams to win, and here is why….

New York Red Bulls  – Columbus Crew – 8 p.m. (ESPN2 / ESPN Deportes / ESPN360.com)

The top two teams in the Eastern Conference clash. The Crew are still undefeated, trailing New York by just one point with two games in hand. The Red Bulls are coming off consecutive losses and their first loss at Red Bull Arena. They have been shut out in each of their three losses this year, but they say is not a trend.  The home team has won the past eight meetings between the clubs. The Crew will be happy not to have to visit Giants Stadium where Red Bulls played before opening of their new arena, Columbus side finished with an 11-game winless streak at the Meadowlands. Their last victory in New Jersey came April 12, 2003, 1-0. That is over 7 years, I was about to pick Crew to win, because they better, more consistent team. However yesterdays suspension of their playmaker Guillermo Barros Schelotto and USMNT World Cup calls for Chad Marshall and Robbie Rogers gave even bigger challenge to coach Robert Warzycha. Absense of Rogers and Marshall is not that damaging for the Crew, but suspension of Argentinean star definitely benefits Red Bulls, and they are my favorites.  This is New York team playing at home and I am suspecting that all those close calls from the referee will go in host team favor.

CHRIS PICK:  1 Red Bulls at rate 2.25

FC Dallas – LA Galaxy – 8:30 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick package)

Saturday’s scoreless draw with Toronto was the last game in Galaxy colors for Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan before joining the U.S. national team’s World Cup camp. The pair has combined for 10 goals and 11 assists already, question how the Galaxy will do without them?

FC Dallas has a five-game undefeated streak alive. Danny Mwanga’s goal for Union ended FCD’s shutout streak at 319 minutes – the longest in MLS so far this season. That tell us that FC Dallas defense is solid and Galaxy will play with their best offensive players.

In recent encounters, the two teams have exploded for goals at the home of the other. A year ago, FC Dallas won 6-3 at The Home Depot Center – the most goals allowed in a single game in Galaxy history. But in 2008, the Galaxy won 5-1 at Pizza Hut Park (and that followed a 6-3 Galaxy win in SuperLiga in 2007). I am debating between picking FC Dallas vs OVER, but I will go with Texans this time,  about time for big home victory for FC Dallas.

CHRIS PICK:  FC Dallas at rate 2.30

CHRIS PICKS: last week 44

CHRIS PICKS: this season 3727 = accuracy  57.8 %
