Except Revolution all home teams are my favorites this Saturday, and here us why

Columbus Crew – LA Galaxy – 7:30 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

Definitely, this is the game of the week if not of the season. The Galaxy have won just once all-time at Crew Stadium – a 2-1 win against Columbus on Sept. 30, 2007. That also includes a loss to the Crew in the 2002 U.S. Open Cup final, and loss in MLS Cup 2001 to San Jose.

Galaxy will miss two players to the U.S. national team’s pre-World Cup camp, the Galaxy without Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan, while the Crew have Robbie Rogers and Chad Marshall available and that could be a factor in Columbus favor. I think Galaxy will have first loss of the season

INJURY REPORT

COLUMBUS CREW – OUT: DF Frankie Hejduk (R hamstring strain); DOUBTFUL: DF Danny O’Rourke (R quadriceps strain); PROBABLE: GK William Hesmer (lower back strain)

LOS ANGELES GALAXY – QUESTIONABLE: FW Alan Gordon (R quad strain); MF Dema Kovalenko (R hamstring strain); DF Leonardo (R quad strain)

CHRIS PICK: 1 Columbus at rate 2.05

D.C. United – Chivas USA – 7:30 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

In the first five meetings all-time between the clubs, Chivas USA failed to take a single point. In the five meetings since, Chivas has not lost, winning three – including the last two visits to RFK Stadium. D.C. United have now gone three complete games without scoring a goal. Their current 326-minute goalless drought is the third-longest in club history; the second-longest is 375 minutes, set in 2008.

B ut their win over Italian powerhouse AC Milan might inspire them, I believe that United if they want to compete in this league, they have to win this one, are they capable? I question that and to be clear for me this game is no pick – no bet, but if I have to pick somebody, I will go with home side.

INJURY REPORT

D.C. UNITED – OUT: MF Brandon Barklage (L ACL tear); DF Marc Burch (R foot surgery); DF Bryan Namoff (post-concussion symptoms); GK Andrew Quinn (R meniscus surgery); QUESTIONABLE: FW Luciano Emilio (L hip flexor strain); DF Dejan Jakovic (R clavicle fracture); PROBABLE: GK Bill Hamid (R shoulder strain); FW Chris Pontius (R hamstring strain); MF Santino Quaranta (R thigh staph infection)

CHIVAS USA – OUT: DF Ante Jazic (R knee sprain); DOUBTFUL: GK Dan Kennedy (L hip strain)

CHRIS PICK: 1 United at rate 2.70

New England Revolution – New York Red Bulls – 8 p.m. (Galavision)

The teams met in a U.S. Open Cup play-in match May 12, when the Red Bulls claimed a 3-0 victory. Even with Shalrie Joseph Revs still have problems and  this time Red Bulls also should be able to get result, means at least a draw.

INJURY REPORT

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION – OUT: DF Darrius Barnes (R ankle sprain); MF Nico Colaluca (L knee sprain); GK Matt Reis (L shoulder/L knee surgeries); FW Taylor Twellman (concussion); DOUBTFUL: DF Cory Gibbs (R hamstring strain); DF Emmanuel Osei (R leg infection); QUESTIONABLE: MF Mike Videira (L ankle os trigonum)s their first league encounter.

NEW YORK RED BULLS – OUT: MF Giorgi Chirgadze (hip surgery); DF Kevin Goldthwaite (adductor surgery recovery); FW Macoumba Kandji (R foot broken fifth metatarsal); MF Austin da Luz (L foot Jones fracture); MF Carl Robinson (R knee swelling); MF Brian Nielsen (R knee pain)

CHRIS PICK: X2 Red Bulls at rate 1.75

Houston Dynamo – Philadelphia Union – 8:30 p.m. (FSC / FSE)

Union kick off a three-game road swing with the trip to Houston, still looking for their first point away from home, but Dynamo is almost untouchable at their stadium. Both teams are somewhat mirror opposites of each other. Philadelphia only have four points from the team’s first seven games. However, the Union have several games in hand and have played a disproportionate number of games on the road as they await completion of PPL Park. Union is sure making progress but not that much to get even a point in Houston.

INJURY REPORT

HOUSTON DYNAMO – OUT: MF Geoff Cameron (R knee)

PHILADELPHIA UNION – NONE REPORTED

CHRIS PICK: 1 Dynamo at rate 1.44

Real Salt Lake – Kansas City Wizards – 9 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

Real Salt Lake is on fire and have won four games in a row, matching the club record winning streak, set July 29-Aug. 19, 2006. They also have a chance to match their club-record home winning streak with a win against Kansas City. Wizards played Crew at home last week and did not impressed at all, so RSL to win is one of my easiest picks this weekend

INJURY REPORT

REAL SALT LAKE – OUT: MF Kyle Beckerman (L foot strain); DOUBTFUL: MF Nelson Gonzalez (L hamstring strain)

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS – OUT: MF Zoltan Hercegfalvi (R knee sprain/torn ACL); MF Stephane Auvray (R knee strain); QUESTIONABLE: DF Pablo Escobar (illness)

CHRIS PICK: 1 RSL at rate 1.61

Colorado Rapids – Seattle Sounders FC – 9 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

Sounders FC were shut out for the second consecutive home game – and third time this season – in their loss to San Jose. Seattle has scored just two goals in the last five games and they will have very hard time scoring in Colorado. Even if Sounders somehow manage to score, I believe that Rapids will score one more and they are my favorite in that one.

INJURY REPORT

COLORADO RAPIDS – OUT: DF Kosuke Kimura (L ankle stress fracture); MF Ciaran O’Brien (L hip sprain); FW Ross Schunk (R ACL tear); QUESTIONABLE: DF Julien Baudet (L knee strain); MF Jamie Smith (R hamstring strain); PROBABLE: DF Scott Palguta (L calf strain)

SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC – OUT: MF Peter Vagenas (R quadriceps strain); FW Nate Jaqua (lower abdominal fascial tear); MF Michael Fucito (R knee contusion); DF Jhon Kennedy Hurtado (L knee ACL tear); DOUBTFUL: MF Osvaldo Alonso (R quadriceps strain); PROBABLE: MF Brad Evans (L knee contusion)

CHRIS PICK: 1 Rapids at rate 2.00

San Jose Earthquakes – Toronto FC – 10 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

Both team have decent run and their defensive line are impressive lately. The Earthquakes extended their undefeated run to four games – all by shutout. The Quakes have not allowed a goal in 363 minutes (second only to the LA Galaxy’s current 366-minute run as tops in MLS this season). TFC now has four consecutive shutouts in all competitions – two in MLS play, and two in the Canadian Championship. They last conceded a goal May 8 against Chicago, a span of 410 competitive minutes. You might go UNDER in this game, because Toronto usually have some problem scoring, but on the small field at Buck Shaw Stadium anything could happen. Home field matters and overall I think Earthquakes will manage to win this one.

INJURY REPORT

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES DOUBTFUL: MF Andre Luiz (L knee strain)

TORONTO FC OUT: DF Emmanuel Gomez (R knee osteochondral injury); DF Ty Harden (R leg laceration); QUESTIONABLE: DF Nana Attakora (R hip flexor); MF Julian de Guzman (L hamstring strain); DF Dan Gargan (R ankle sprain)

CHRIS PICK: 1 Earthquakes at rate 1.7

CHRIS PICKS: last Thursday 1 -0

CHRIS PICKS: this season 42 -30 = accuracy  58.33 %
