Toronto FC impressive in CONCACAF Champions League start – VIDEO

Toronto FC  made an impressive start to their CONCACAF Champions League group-stage campaign on Tuesday night at BMO Field, shocking Mexican powerhouse Cruz Azul 2-1 on goals from Martin Saric and Mista.

Aldo De Negris scored midway through the first half and Monterrey made a winning debut in the CONCACAF Champions League with a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica’s Saprissa. The goal highlighted a dominating performance by the reigning Mexican Apertura champion, who remained unbeaten in five games this season

The Group Stage will open August 17 and finish October 21, with two teams from each of the four, four-team groups advancing to the quarterfinals in February and March.

The two-leg knockout round will be followed by the semifinals in later March and April with the finals set for the final two weeks of April.
