New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids and at least 3 goals in Philadelphia my favorite picks for this MLS weekend. I also like RSL in New England, but be careful with the rest. As always welcome your insides, thoughts, suggestions and YOUR picks below.

Seattle Sounders FC – Toronto FC at 3:30 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

Sounders FC return home after back-to-back shutout wins against Eastern Conference opposition, defeating Columbus Sept. 18 and Chicago last weekend – with a trip to Monterrey, Mexico in between.

Seattle has allowed just four goals in its last eight league games and have posted three consecutive shutouts, but don’t think that Toronto FC going to play tourist role in Seattle.

TFC is on win or die situation, with a loss in Seattle combined with victories by San Jose and Colorado in either of their games during the week, Toronto FC will be eliminated from playoff contention.

CHRIS PICK: Sounders to win at rate 1.72

Philadelphia Union – Houston Dynamo at 4 p.m. (TeleFutura)

The Dynamo had lost each of their previous two matches by conceding the winning goal in stoppage time – before turning that trend around with a 3-1 come-from-behind win against D.C. United. It was just the second win since the end of May for the Dynamo.

The Dynamo were eliminated from postseason consideration, the first time since the club’s move to Houston it will not appear in the MLS Cup Playoffs, but that doesn’t mean that can’t put good show together. I am confident that there will be plenty of goals, so OVER 2.5 goals in this match is my pick of the week

CHRIS PICK: OVER at rate 1.80

Columbus Crew – San Jose Earthquakes at 7:30 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

The Crew will book their spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs with a victory against San Jose if Kansas City also fails to defeat New York, or with a tie against San Jose and a New York win against K.C. The Earthquakes on Wednesday had very hot weather in San Jose, but they also got cold shower from Chicago Fire, with Freddie Ljungberg the best game in Fire uniform.

The Crew has very important game next Tuesday in Seattle, where they face Sounders FC in US Open Cup final. That makes me think that Robert Warzycha for sure will balance the roster to make sure he has some fresh legs for the final, so absolutely DO NOT pick winner in this game. Both sides lately have problems in their defensive lines, so if you really have to bet I will go OVER 2.5 goals, but once again for me this match  is no bet.

CHRIS PICK: OVER at rate 1.95

New England Revolution – Real Salt Lake at 7:30 p.m.  (MLS Direct Kick)

Defending MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake assured their place in the postseason with the late draw against Colorado, after Kansas City’s home loss against FC Dallas. RSL could still finish in a tie for eighth place with Kansas City, but hold the edge in head-to-head.

RSL is much better team and easy should win, but again they already clinch the playoffs and coach Jason Kreis may experiment with the roster a little. Will Revs boss Steve Nicol and his team take advantage of it?

The draw ended New England’s chances of qualifying for the MLS Cup Playoffs, ending their streak of eight consecutive years in the postseason. The streak is second-longest in MLS history, behind the LA Galaxy (10, 1996-2005).

RSL has still chances for Supporter Shield trophy, and as MLS Champions they will try to get 3 points on Foxboro.

CHRIS PICK: RSL win at rate 2.30

New York Red Bulls – Kansas City Wizards at 7:30 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

Since the beginning of May, the Red Bulls have lost just three league games. The defeats have come against Columbus (July 17), Los Angeles (Aug. 14) and Real Salt Lake (Sept. 4), the top three teams in the standings ahead of the Red Bulls – a trend reversed by Friday’s high-profile win in LA. On the other hand, Wizards still with chances for the playoffs, and I am sorry KC fans but I will call them just mathematical.

A win against Kansas City and the New York Red Bulls will secure their place in the MLS Cup Playoffs, and expect big celebration at Red Bull Arena with coach Hans Backe in glory. GO RED BULLS, this should be easy one.

CHRIS PICK: Red Bulls to win at rate 1.72

FC Dallas – Chicago Fire at 8:30 p.m. (FSC / FSE) (MLS Direct Kick)

Big game for the Fire, who all the sudden won 3-0 on Wednesday in San Jose, after Krzysztof Król return their defensive line improved and with explosive Quakes attack with Geovanni and Wondo kept the clean sheet.

FC Dallas will secure a spot in the postseason with a win against Chicago, or with a draw and if Kansas City fails to defeat New York. To me this match smell like draw, but Fire may get confidence and can surprise. Freddie Ljungberg is on Fire, and we should see good match. No bet for me, but if I have to pick, I will go with the draw with Fire win, because motivation and momentum is on their side.

CHRIS PICK: X2 Draw with Fire win at rate 2.00

Colorado Rapids vs. D.C. United at 9 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick)

This bet looks like easy money. United are on the verge of recording the worst single-season record in club history. The previous low was 26 points (an 8-16-2 record) in 2001.

The Rapids need points to secure playoff spot, and in my opinion they should have very entertaining shooting practice vs. United. D.C. United have not won in Colorado since May 6, 2000. The Rapids have won eight of the 10 games at home since. Once again I am sorry if you are United fan, because only miracle can save them in Colorado on Saturday. John Harkes already express his interest in head coaching position, and on Monday he may get the call. I am sure his resume will be ready.

CHRIS PICK: Rapids at rate1.44, but if you want to be aggressive you can also play OVER 2.5 goals at rate 1.90

Chivas USA – LA Galaxy at 8 p.m. (ESPN2 / ESPN Deportes / ESPN360.com) – SUNDAY

Chivas USA were shut out for the second consecutive game and the fifth time in seven games in the loss at Philadelphia.

Remember that when facing the New York Red Bulls, the Galaxy had a center back pairing of Leonardo and Yohance Marshall that had just 10 combined league appearances. For this match, Omar Gonzalez is expected to be in the lineup after serving a one-game suspension for accumulation of yellow cards and Gregg Berhalter may return from injury.

After two victories in the 2007 series, Chivas USA have not defeated the LA Galaxy in the nine league and MLS Cup Playoffs meetings since. The Galaxy are 5-0-4 against their rivals in that span, including a 2-0 win on April 1. Galaxy should be able to win this one, although those derby games as you know have their own rights and rules. However I really believe that Galaxy will successfully recover from their last lost to Red Bulls.

CHRIS PICK: Galaxy to win at 2.05 rate

CHRIS PICKS: last Wednesday 11

CHRIS PICKS: this season 8869 = accuracy  56.05 %
