Melksham given opening honour

Australian Jacqui Melksham has been nominated for the opening match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011 between Germany and Canada in Berlin on 26 June.

For Melksham, a Studio Manager and Graphics Designer from Mansfield (Queensland), this is her third FIFA competition after the 2004 and 2008 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cups. The 33-year-old follows in the footsteps of Tammy Ogston, the Australian referee, who officiated in the last three FIFA Women’s World Cups, including the 2007 Final between Germany and Brazil in China.

Allyson Flynn and Sarah Ho, also from Australia, will be the assistant referees for this game. The fourth official will be Etsuko Fukano from Japan.
