Puel succeeds Marsiglia as Nice coach

OGC Nice have announced that Claude Puel will succeed René Marsiglia as head coach after agreeing terms on a three-year deal.

The Riviera side finished 13th in Ligue 1 this season but did not renew Marsiglia’s contract after the former assistant stepped up to replace Éric Roy in November 2011. Puel, 51, has had spells in charge at AS Monaco FC, LOSC Lille Métropole and three seasons at Olympique Lyonnais where he guided them to a first UEFA Champions League semi-final in 2010.

“Throughout my career, outstanding relationships have attracted me,” said Puel. “I am not a careerist, I act with my feelings. And this project spoke to my heart. Whichever club I have trained, regardless of their standing, I have always tried to improve their structure.”
