The third day of the 2011-12 Development Academy Playoffs on Wednesday featured the U-15/16 age group taking the spotlight as teams competed to inch closer
toward a spot in Finals Week.

Similar to Tuesday’s U-17/18 slate of matches, three U-15/16 teams had an opportunity to clinch a spot, but the results did not pan out in the long run.

D.C. United, PA Classics and the San Diego Surf all entered Wednesday’s games with three points and a two-point lead over the rest of their group, but as
their older counterparts did the day before, no teams could finalize a group win.

Some interesting shuffling took place in Group 8 as St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri took over the San Diego Surf’s initial group lead with a 2-1
victory, scoring two unanswered goals in the second half to overcome a first-half deficit. St. Louis now holds a one-point lead over San Diego and Friday’s
final opponent, Players Development Academy.

In Group 7, PA Classics is now hanging on to a one-point lead over Arsenal FC and wraps up the group stage against third-place Chicago Magic PSG on Friday.
PA Classics played Weston FC to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday, while Arsenal snatched a late game-winner against the Magic.

D.C. United maintains a one-point lead in Group 7 following its 1-1 draw against the LA Galaxy. D.C. has four points, followed by the Concorde Fire (three
points) and Galaxy (two points). The Concorde Fire posted a dominating 5-2 win against the last-place Colorado Rush to leapfrog into second place.

Arsenal FC and Chicago Magic PSG battled in a back-and-forth Group 7 showdown Wednesday, with Arsenal eventually coming out on top with a 3-2 win. Mason
Klerks was the prime performer for Arsenal with two goals, including his dramatic 80th-minute game-winner in the closing moments of the match … Concorde
Fire’s Cameron Moseley scored two of the team’s first three goals en route to a strong 5-2 win against the Colorado Rush … The Chicago Fire’s Jeffrey
Farina carried his team with the game’s first two goals during a 3-0 win against Seattle Sounders FC in Group 4, where Chicago and Real Salt Lake AZ are
level with two victories and six points.

The U-17/18 age group had Wednesday off as the teams prepare for what should be a thrilling Thursday with all eight group leaders and Finals Week
qualifiers to be determined. Five of the group leaders have won their first two games and are in a strong position to advance to Houston: Pateadores (Group
2), FC Dallas (Group 5), Chivas USA (Group 6), Solar Chelsea SC (Group 7) and Baltimore Bays Chelsea (Group 8). ussoccer.com

It’s the final day of competition in the U-17/18 division and everything is on the line. Heading into the day, no team has clinched a spot to Finals Week,
which means there are several high-pressure, all-or-nothing matchups to watch.

North Carolina Fusion vs. Crossfire Premier, 9 a.m.:
Crossfire Premier is in the driver’s seat heading into the final day. The club based out of Kirkland, Wash., can clinch a spot to Finals Week with a win or
a draw against the North Carolina Fusion. A win for the Fusion would give the team the group win and a trip to Houston.

Dallas Texans vs. Colorado Rapids, 9 a.m.:
The Texans and Rapids sit atop Group 4 with identical 1-0-1 records and face a winner-take-all pairing. A draw would create an opening for Empire United,
which enters Thursday two points behind the group leaders.

Chivas USA vs. New York Red Bulls, 11 a.m.:
In a matchup of two MLS-affiliated clubs, Group 6 leader Chivas USA needs either a win or a draw against New York Red Bulls to move on to Finals Week by
virtue of their two straight victories in group play. New York (1-0-1) would book a trip to Houston with a victory against their West Coast counterparts.
