2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championship – Guatemala City; Guatemala

July 3, 2012

U.S. Futsal National Team head coach KEITH TOZER

On the team’s play in the second game:

“I give the team so much credit because after a disappointing loss last night they rebounded against a very good Canadian team. I thought Sipho Sibiya and
their team played quite well and it was kind of the battle that I thought it was going to be. It was two proud countries and two new futsal programs and
that’s what we got tonight. It was a great victory. We live for another day.”

On the difference between the first and second game:

“We knew there was no other game. If we lost today, we’re basically done. The guys listened to the game plan, they stuck to the game plan, they executed
the game plan. We got some nice goals when we needed them and our defense held great. Playing against a fifth attacker for a couple minutes is very
difficult so I’m very happy for them. They needed this. Now we throw everything out that we can tomorrow and see what happens.”

On the team’s defense:

“We played good defense. Yesterday we gave up five goals, today we only gave up two and (Canada) is a team that can score goals. They scored three against
Guatemala and scored much more against their other opponent. Overall it was just good team defense and timely goals.”

U.S. Futsal National Team forward KRAIG CHILES

On the game in general:

“It was two fairly athletic teams and we knew it was going to be a battle from the first minute. There was a little bit of a rivalry between our two
countries and we knew it was going to be an intense game and it’s a must-win for both of us so we’re excited that we got that win and we’ll move on to
tomorrow’s game with something to play for.”

On scoring the game-winner:

“About five minutes earlier, I pretty much gave up a goal tracking my defender and, basically, he scored on me. I was kind of down and out and I needed to
go in there and make an impact. They were taking away my right foot, I pushed it to my left side and luckily got the shot off in time. It was exciting.
It’s my first win with the U.S. team so I couldn’t be more happy.”

On the team’s defense and goalkeeper Daniel Waltman:

“Danny played out of his mind. In the last three minutes, they pulled their goalkeeper and pressed on us and they had about a handful of chances and it was
a good game. It was back and forth and I’m happy to get out with the win. They did all that they could and Danny really came up at the end.”

On playing Guatemala on July 4:

“This is going to be the toughest game of the group. We know that. We’re going to be fired up. It’s our Independence Day and we’re going to be excited and
ready to go. Hopefully it’s going to be a full stadium, a lot of energy, and we’re going to do everything we can to get into the World Cup.”

U.S. Futsal National Team defender PATRICK HEALEY

On scoring the goal that tied it at 1-1 and eventually winning the game:

“It was a key goal. We were down one to nothing; if we go down two it’s a heartbreaker kind of thing. It was a good one-two with me and Machel [Millwood] and Kraig [Chiles] got back pole. He was unlucky and hits the post and I was just lucky to be in the right spot to finish it.”

On the team’s mentality heading into the third game against Guatemala:

“We’re still alive. We would have liked to win the game by more goals but we got the job done. We kept ourselves alive, but we need to get a ‘W’ tomorrow.
If we don’t get a win tomorrow, we’re out. We’re going to give it all we got and see how the chips fall.”

On whether the team is ready for the final group game:

“I think everybody felt we played well the first game. We actually played well for most of this game. We just need to take it step-by-step in every play,
hopefully get a lead against Guatemala, because, as you can hear, this crowd is nuts. If we could get a lead, that would be better.”

U.S. Futsal National Team defender SANDRE NAUMOSKI

On how the team felt going into the match:

“How does a kid feel in a candy store? That’s how I feel about this game. I found out that I was going to play around 3 p.m. today. I’ve been ready all
trip. I was ready for the last game, this game and will be ready for the next game. I’m very excited. I’m comfortable playing in the back. I thought we did
a nice job. Winning is great, losing is not. Getting the ‘W’ was a must for us so we delivered. It was very exciting.”

On the team’s mentality going into the third game against the host country on July 4:

“A couple of the guys got a little bit overly excited. They were happy with the win and almost started celebrating. Our quest is not done. We have one more
game against a very tough Guatemalan team. Are they beatable? Yes, they are beatable. We have to play our best defense ever, we have to execute our
chances. It’s in our hands. If we beat them, we could go through.”

On the team’s composure on defense during the last few minutes of the game:

“When they pulled the goalkeeper up past midfield we can’t high-pressure them anymore so we’re behind the ball. We had to take away the middle pass, which
was very important. We were trying to get him to go around and takes shots from the outside. A couple of times it did come close but Danny Waltman had some
big saves. Myself, Ptah Myers and everybody who was in that lineup sacrificed their body and we actually got a couple of blocks. It was big.”
