U.S. Paralympic National Team Loses to Netherlands, Will Play in 7th Place Match on Sunday, Sept. 9


The U.S. Paralympic National Team fell to the Netherlands 5-0 on Friday in a 2012 Paralympics playoff classification match at Riverbank Arena in London.

LONDON (Sept. 7, 2012) – The U.S. Paralympic National Team fell to the Netherlands 5-0 on Friday in a 2012 Paralympics playoff classification match at
Riverbank Arena in London.

The U.S. managed 15 shots, including six on goal, but Dennis Straaman scored twice for the Netherlands and four second-half goals were too much to
overcome for the USA. Goalkeeper Keith Johnson made seven saves for the U.S.

The classification match was played to determine which teams would enter the placement round in the seventh-place match and the fifth-place match. The
U.S. will now play Great Britain at 3:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 9. Great Britain lost 4-3 after extra time against Argentina in the second playoff
classification match.

Great Britain beat the U.S. 4-0 on Sept. 5 in the final match of Pool B play.
