Chicago Fire moved up to second place in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference following a 2-1 win at rock-bottom Toronto FC on Wednesday.

Frank Klopas’ men are now just three points behind leaders Sporting Kansas City in the standings as first-half strikes from Alvaro Fernandez (13) and Chris Rolfe (42) set them on their way to victory.

Eric Hassli pulled one back for Toronto in the 79th minute but the hosts could not find a leveller and they remain five points adrift of second bottom side Philadelphia Union.
