San Jose Earthquakes hold a lead of 11 points in the Major League Soccer Western Conference following a 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders.
Simon Dawkins opened the scoring after two minutes but Steve Zakuani levelled 12 minutes later. Chris Wondolowski scored the winner on the half-hour as the Earthquakes kept their lead over Los Angeles Galaxy.
Robbie Keane and Juninho both scored two goals as Galaxy won 4-2 over Toronto FC and the champions booked a return to the play-offs. Toronto, bottom of the Eastern Conference, scored through Terry Dunfield and Luis Silva.
Real Salt Lake secured a play-off place for a fifth straight year with a 2-1 win against Portland Timbers. Fabian Espindola and Javier Morales scored first-half goals for Salt Lake and Bright Dike netted after 61 minutes for Portland.
Sporting Kansas City maintained their hold on top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 0-0 draw against Montreal Impact. Sporting goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen saved Matteo Ferrari’s header in added time as Montreal picked up a first point in three games, which kept them in the play-off picture.
New York Red Bulls lie five points behind Sporting after a last-gasp goal by New England Revolution denied them a win.Joel Lindpere put the Red Bulls ahead in the first minute of added time but Darrius Barnes equalised four minutes later. New York had Connor Lade sent off with 16 minutes to go.
Chris Rolfe scored both goals as Chicago Fire won 2-1 against Columbus Crew, who netted through Jairo Arrieta.
