MLS Week 17 Preview, Picks and Predictions

Houston we have problem, as my favorite they fail to score game winner and damaged my record, but also Crew loss wasn’t expected by many. The Crew disappointing loss, and Dynamo not winning at home vs TFC, made my Saturday negative 2-3.

Last Wednesday finished with 3-1 record, and after very promising start into 17th week of my MLS Predictions, hopes are high that winning trend will continue for the rest of the weekend.

Los Angeles Galaxy are my heavy favorites to win, we should also see some goals in Philadelphia, and

I was 100% correct on possible upset in Washington where United beat the Earthquakes 1-0.

Current week 17 record 85

Last 16th week of 2013 MLS season finished 05 record.

2013 MLS season record 7876 (accuracy 50.65 % ).

Picks and predictions are usually published here at least 1-2 hours before the game time.

Sunday, June 23

Chivas USA vs. LA Galaxy 0-1

The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Jack McBean gave the Galaxy the lead in the 83rd minute, but Carlos Alvarez equalized just six minutes later to leave the teams in a 1-1 tie, March 17 in Carson.

The Galaxy have won eight of the last 10 league meetings, dating back to 2009. Chivas USA won 1-0 last May 19, their first victory against the Galaxy since Aug. 23, 2007, snapping an 11-game winless run in SuperClásicos.

It will be the first SuperClásico in charge for Chivas USA head coach José Luis Real, who took over the reins of the club this week.

It will also be the first SuperClásico at the newly-renamed StubHub Center, the home ground for both clubs.

There is no way LA Galaxy will let 3 points go away in that one. Galaxy need points so bad, and they will score enough to win. I suggest double play in this game, Galaxy with more than 2 goals total, it should be safe bet.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 2 Galaxy to WIN
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

Philadelphia Union vs. New York Red Bulls 3-0

1-0 Conor Casey (7)
2-0 Conor Casey (64)
3-0 Antoine Hoppenot (88)
Referee: Baldomero Toledo, Attendance: 19013

Fresh and ready Red Bulls likely to score at least a goal on PPL Park, and Union should respond with at least one.  This will be ESPN broadcasted game, and expect some goals in Philadelphia, these matches are often high scoring.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

Portland Timbers vs. Colorado Rapids 3-0

1-0 Frederic Piqulonne (12)
2-0 Will Johnson (45)
3-0 Ryan Johnson (84)
Referee: Silviu Petrescu, Attendance: 20674
Timbers had tough game on Wednesday, but came back from LA Galaxy match with a point, after scoreless draw with MLS Champions. Rapids will face serious challenge in Portland, and I believe they will have hard time there.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Timbers to WIN

Saturday, June 22

D.C. United vs. San Jose Earthquakes 1-0

1-0 Chris Pontius (11-penalty)
Referee: Jair Marrufo, Attendance: 13149

The Earthquakes will play without their top scorer Chris Wondolowski, which by several reports has been injured during practice, but he was not scoring much lately. However, it is interesting how new coach Mark Watson will set the lineup without Wondo. The Earthquakes on the paper are better team, but this game is a perfect candidate for upset and United win.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Columbus Crew vs. Chicago Fire 1-2

1-0 Federico Higuain (7-penalty)
1-1 Dilly Duka (52)
1-2 Mike Magee (54)
Referee: Drew Fischer, Attendance: 19624

The Crew dealing with many absences due to injuries, but coach Robert Warzycha is one of the best in motivating young players, and they play well for him. Fire coming to Columbus after 2-1 victory in midweek game vs Rapids, but I look this as Crew advantage and they should be able to cash 3 points at home.

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Crew WIN

FC Dallas vs. Sporting Kansas City 2-2

0-1 Kei Kamara (43)
0-2 Je-Vaughn Watson (57-own goal)
1-2 Andrew Jacobson (88)
2-2 Walker Zimmerman (90)
Referee: Mark Geiger, Attendance: 16361

This is matchup where both coaches will focus on defense, and a perfect candidate for draw, perhaps 0-0 or 1-1. I don’t see many goals in this game.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Houston Dynamo vs. Toronto FC 0-0

Referee: Ricardo Salazar, Attendance: 22039

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Dynamo to WIN

Real Salt Lake vs. Seattle Sounders FC 2-0

1-0 Kyle Beckerman (41)
2-0 Robbie Findley (46)
Referee: Armando Villarreal, Attendance: 19848

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Wednesday, June 19

Montreal Impact vs. Houston Dynamo 2-0

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Chicago Fire vs. Colorado Rapids 2-1

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Chivas USA 3-1

This should be very good Wednesday, perhaps another high scoring day for the WhiteCaps.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 WhiteCaps WIN (likely by more than 1 goal)

LA Galaxy vs. Portland Timbers 0-0

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: X2 Draw or Timbers WIN
