MLS Week 19 Preview, Picks and Predictions

Due to some weird results, and poor finishing, I ended 6-11, my 19th week of MLS Predictions, which male my record exactly 50%, and once again that’s way below my average.

Current week 19 record 611

Last 18th week of 2013 MLS season finished 63 record.

2013 MLS season record 9090 (accuracy 50.00 % ).

Picks and predictions are usually published here at least 1-2 hours before the game time.

Sunday, July 7

Montreal Impact vs. Chivas USA 1-1

The Goats somehow managed to keep their sheet clean in their last game vs FC Dallas. Chivas USA making obvious progress and playing better in last few games, but I think is still too early for them to earn a point in Montreal. Impact in their last 2 games conceded 7 goals, but offense scored 6 and kept them in both of these games.

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Impact to WIN

Colorado Rapids vs. D.C. United 0-0

The teams met once a season ago. Goals from Dwayne De Rosario and Hamdi Salihi gave United a 2-0 win May 16 at RFK Stadium, United’s first win at home vs. Colorado since 2009.
Both teams had gone more than a decade between wins at the other’s home. Colorado’s win in Washington in 2010 was their first in the nation’s capital since 1999. United’s win in Colorado in 2010 was their first in the Centennial State since 2000.
Colorado rookies Deshorn Brown and Dillon Powers continued their impressive opening campaigns in the 4-3 win at Montréal. Brown moved into a tie among rookie goalscorers with his fourth for the season, while Powers added a goal and an assist; he has three goals and two assists for the year.

If Rapids can beat Red Bulls at home, I am sure they can also defeat struggling D.C. United
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Rapids to WIN

Los Angeles Galaxy vs. FC Dallas 2-0

Rookie Walker Zimmerman scored for a second consecutive game – his first professional goals – in FC Dallas’ 2-2 draw with Philadelphia Union.
The teams are meeting for the second time this season. George John’s 87th-minute goal gave FC Dallas a 1-0 win in Frisco on April 13.
The FCD victory snapped a four-game losing streak against the Galaxy, their first win in the series since May 1, 2011.

The Galaxy had problem scoring goals vs Crew, and referee manufactured at least a goal for them in stoppage time, that’s how they won last game. FC Dallas defense is rank higher, and they had huge problem scoring against Chivas USA (0-0), I don’t see many goals in this match.

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Chicago Fire vs. Sporting Kansas City 1-2

The Chicago Fire is on fire, but scoring against Sporting is not easy task.

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Columbus Crew vs. Portland Timbers 1-0

The Crew got screwed by the referee in their last game in Los Angeles, knowing coach Robert Warzycha team frustration can be quickly translated to good performance. Not sure if with current personnel they are able to beat Timbers, but why not?
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

Saturday, July 6

New England Revolution vs. San Jose Earthquakes 2-0

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

Houston Dynamo vs. Philadelphia Union 1-0

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Seattle Sounders 2-0

CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

Thursday, July 4

FC Dallas vs. Chivas USA 0-0

The Goats will be cooked in Texas, FC Dallas will take care of business and home crowd should have explosive evening at Pizza Hut Park.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 FC Dallas to WIN

Colorado Rapids vs. New York Red Bulls 2-0

Rapids showed how tough they are last weekend in Montreal, Red Bulls will have hard time to get out from Colorado with a point.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Rapids to WIN

Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Columbus Crew 2-1

This match is a super candidate for upset and Crew win. However, just to be safe I’m more confident about scoring ability on both sides, so I will go with over 2.5 goals.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

Wednesday, July 3

Toronto FC vs. Montreal Impact 3-3

Stay away from this game if you can. Draw would b’e my pick, but I will not be surprised if TFC finally win some prestigious match, and vs Impact would be just one of them.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Chicago Fire vs. San Jose Earthquakes 3-2

The Earthquakes stunning last minute win over Galaxy, sure was effective, but was a more result of a reckless play by opponent than Quakes improvement in the game. Quakes defensive line is still making too much room for opponents, and Mike Magee will have very good chance to improve his stats. I believe in more than 2 goals in this game, and almost sure Fire win.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Fire to WIN

Sporting Kansas City vs. Vancouver Whitecaps 1-1

Sporting getting his form, and proved in impressive 3-2 win over Crew last weekend.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Sporting to WIN

Real Salt Lake vs. Philadelphia Union 2-2

Union facing another team from top of the western conference, this time leader RSL. I don’t give visitors many chance to win this one, but it should be good game.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 RSL to WIN

Seattle Sounders FC vs. D.C. United 2-0

Sounders are heavy favorites to win this match. It’s really hard to imagine any other outcome here, than convincing Seattle team win and fireworks afterwords.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Sounders to WIN
