MLS Wednesday Preview, Picks and Predictions

After 5-3 finish in week 20, Wednesday’s 2 games will start 21st week of my MLS predictions. Rapids are my favorites to win against shorthanded Revolution, and improved Chivas USA defense should be good enough to keep total number of goals in their game below 3.

Current week 21 record 00

Last 20th week of 2013 MLS season finished 5record.

2013 MLS season record 959(accuracy 50.53 % ).

Picks and predictions are usually published here at least 1-2 hours before the game time.

Wednesday, July 17

Colorado Rapids vs. New England Revolution, 9 p.m.

The Revolution haven’t won in Colorado in a decade, since a 2-1 win June 15, 2002. Since then, the Rapids have won five times at home, with five draws, in the all-time series. They have never lost to New England at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (2-0-3).
The Revolution snapped a four-year winless streak against the Rapids last year in the only meeting between the teams, a 2-1 win May 2 at Gillette Stadium. The Rapids had won three times, with five draws, since a Revolution win in 2007.
Saer Sene has scored goals in back-to-back games, and has all three of his league goals in the last six matches, after netting in New England’s 2-1 home loss to Houston over the weekend.
The Rapids return to action after having their two-game winning streak snapped in their last match, a scoreless draw July 7 with D.C. United at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Chivas USA vs. Toronto FC, 10:30 p.m.

Chivas USA come into the game after seeing their winless streak extended to 14 games in a 3-1 loss at Philadelphia Union on Friday night. It is one game shy of the club record and is tied for the third-longest winless run in MLS history. It also matches the longest ever contained within a single season.
Toronto FC had their current winless streak extended to four games in their last match, a 3-0 loss at Sporting Kansas City. They have now only won twice in their last 32 league matches.
Chivas USA haven’t lost to Toronto FC in the last four meetings between the clubs. They have three wins in that time, including a 1-0 victory in the only meeting a season ago, April 14 at BMO Field.
Chivas USA have won all five meetings in the series played in Carson. TFC has scored just once in those games, that goal coming in a 3-1 loss in 2008. They are now 330 minutes without a road goal vs. Chivas.
