Houston Dynamo vs. New York Red Bulls 2-4

Tim Cahill scored for a second consecutive match and also set up another goal to lead the Red Bulls to a 2-1 victory against D.C. United on Saturday, leaving them in a three-way tie atop the Eastern Conference along with Sporting Kansas City and the Montréal Impact.
Thierry Henry was left on the substitutes’ bench to start the win against D.C. United, but came on for the final half-hour.
The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Fabian Espíndola and Jonny Steele scored second-half goals to lead the Red Bulls to a 2-0 win June 30 in Harrison.
The visiting team has never won in league play in the all-time series between the teams. The Red Bulls are 6-0-3 all-time at home vs. Houston; the Dynamo are 4-0-3 all-time at home vs. New York.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: DRAW
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

New England Revolution vs. Montreal Impact 2-4

Diego Fagundez scored a goal for a second consecutive match and his fourth goal since July 20 as the Revolution played to a 1-1 draw at Toronto FC on Friday. Fagundez has two goals and two assists in the last two games; he has nine goals this season.
The Impact were shut out for the first time since July 20, but still came away with a point in their scoreless draw Saturday at Philadelphia Union. They have reached goalless draws in their last two offensive shutouts.
The Impact won the lone meeting in New England between the teams in the Impact’s inaugural campaign, a 1-0 win on Aug. 12. The teams split their two meetings in Montréal, including a 1-0 Revolution in the last encounter, Oct. 27.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Chivas USA vs. D.C. United 1-0

D.C. United have a two-season undefeated streak alive vs. Chivas USA, with two wins and a draw since the last Chivas win, Aug. 29, 2010. United won 1-0 at RFK Stadium in the only meeting between the teams last year.
United won the first five meetings ever between the clubs, before Chivas USA won three of the next five, with two draws.
Nick DeLeon scored the first goal of his injury-plagued second MLS season in United’s 2-1 loss at the New York Red Bulls on Saturday evening.
Dwayne De Rosario was involved in a goal for a second consecutive match, setting up De Leon’s goal in New York, but saw a late penalty kick saved by Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Chivas USA to WIN
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Philadelphia Union 1-0

The Earthquakes return home following a two-game road swing to Dallas and LA where they conceded five goals in a draw and a loss. They have won five home games in a row, including the last four at Buck Shaw Stadium.
Union saw their winless run extended to three games – matching their longest of the season – in their scoreless draw with Montréal at PPL Park on Saturday. Union have recorded defensive shutouts in three of their last four games.
The Earthquakes won the lone meeting between the teams a season ago, a 2-1 win at PPL Park on April 28.
Union have not won at Buck Shaw Stadium, the Quakes winning 1-0 in the first meeting there, then the teams reached a scoreless result in 2011.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Saturday, September 7

Sporting Kansas City vs. Columbus Crew 3-0

Benny Feilhaber scored his third goal of the season – all since July 7 – with a wicked, curling long-range strike to send Sporting on their way to a 2-1 win against Colorado on Saturday evening.
Graham Zusi netted his first goal since July 7 late in the match to give Sporting the victory vs. Colorado, snapping a two-game losing slide.
The Crew will have playmaker Federico Higuaín available for the Sporting KC match, having completed his two-game suspension.
The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Kei Kamara’s second goal of the game, in the 80th minute, gave Sporting a 3-2 victory June 29 in Kansas City.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Sporting to WIN

FC Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3-1

FC Dallas return to action after a week off, coming back for another late draw at home in their last match in a 2-2 result with the San Jose Earthquakes. Blas Pérez scored his 10th goal of the season, but will miss the Vancouver contest on international duty.
Whitecaps FC still saw their winless run extended to three games, but salvaged a late, late 2-2 draw with Chivas USA on Sunday as Tommy Heinemann scored in stoppage time. The trip to Dallas starts a three-game road trip that includes matches in San Jose and Montréal.
The teams are meeting for the third time this season, having played earlier in a home-and-home series over back-to-back weekends. On April 20 in Frisco, an own goal and a Blas Pérez goal gave FCD a 2-0 victory; a week later, late goals from Whitecaps FC’s Camilo Sanvezzo and Kekuta Manneh overcame a two-goal deficit to leave the teams in a 2-2 draw in Vancouver.
FC Dallas have won five of the seven meetings all-time between the clubs, including all three encounters all-time in Frisco.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 FC Dallas to win
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

Seattle Sounders FC vs. Chicago Fire 2-1

Sounders FC have never lost to the Fire in seven meetings all-time in league play. Seattle has won four, including a 2-1 win last April 28 at Toyota Park in the only meeting of 2012; the teams have played to three draws. Sounders FC also won the 2011 U.S. Open Cup Final between the clubs.
Sounders FC entered the week undefeated in the past 10 league games at home, a club record. Their only loss at CenturyLink Field this season came in the season opener – a 1-0 defeat by Montréal.
The Fire saw their three-game winning streak at Toyota Park put to an end on Sunday as the Houston Dynamo scored a last-minute goal to leave the teams in a 1-1 draw.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Sounders to WIN

LA Galaxy vs. Colorado Rapids 0-1

Landon Donovan scored his fifth goal in the last four matches and now has 132 goals for his league career, two away from tying the all-time record currently held by Jeff Cunningham.
Robbie Keane scored multiple goals in a game for the fourth time this season as the Galaxy rolled to a 3-0 win against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night. Keane has a pair of two-goal games and two hat tricks; in 16 MLS games this season, he has 12 goals and 10 assists.
The Rapids saw their club-record nine-game undefeated streak put to an end in a late 2-1 loss at Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, despite a goal from Edson Buddle for a second consecutive game.
The teams are meeting for the third time this season. Hendry Thomas and Dillon Powers scored on either side of halftime to give the Rapids a 2-0 win July 27 in Commerce City; a Mike Magee penalty kick in the 50th minute was all the Galaxy needed for a 1-0 victory March 23 in Carson.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals

Portland Timbers vs. Toronto FC 4-0

The Timbers conceded a season-high four goals in their 4-2 defeat Saturday by Real Salt Lake. They have allowed more than two goals on just three occasions this season – twice to RSL, both coming within the last two weeks (also a 3-3 draw on Aug. 21).
The Timbers from a two-game road swing and look to extend a 10-game undefeated streak at Jeld-Wen Field. They are 7-0-3 in the Rose City since a 2-1 loss to Montréal on March 9.
Timbers playmaker Diego Valeri, second in MLS with 11 assists, was forced off after just 32 minutes in the RSL loss with a groin injury.
Andrew Wiedeman scored his second goal in the last six games as Toronto FC played to a second consecutive draw in their 1-1 home result with New England on Friday evening.
Toronto FC have not lost to the Timbers in three all-time meetings. The teams have played to consecutive draws, and TFC defeated Portland 2-0 in the first meeting ever between the clubs, March 26, 2011.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: 1 Timbers to WIN
