MLS Wednesday Preview, Picks and Predictions

Two Wednesday matches starting 14th week of the MLS season, and new hopes to recover some losses from previous week. In Columbus, the Crew in absolutely must win situation hosting RSL, and in Colorado, red hot Rapids will clash with Fire. Sounds pretty hot and explosive, so we should see some goals in both matches. Totally opposite in terms of scoring, should be Canadian Championship match in Montreal.

Keep in mind I’m not even 42 % in my accuracy this season, but I have been their before. I’m not blaming my self for my predictions, but the players, and sometimes referees, most of the time is their fault.:)

However, despite poor start of the campaign, I’m confident trough the season, I should be able to get back to over 50%, but obvious goal is to cross 54% as earlier as possible.

Current Week 14 record 00 (accuracy 50.00 % )

Last Week 13 record 816 (accuracy 33.33 % )

2014 MLS Predictions record 97143 (accuracy 40.42 % )

Picks and predictions are usually published here at least 1-2 hours before the game time.

COLUMBUS CREW vs REAL SALT LAKE 7:30 pm.

Both teams coming back from losses, but unbeaten for 12 weeks RSL got really smashed by the best MLS team Sounders 4-0, and sure they would love to recover.
The Crew played really good game in Toronto, they did well, and holder 2-2 draw to the very last second when they conceded a goal.
After 3 wins in a row on the start of the season, the Crew are struggling big time. Columbus side have won only once in their last 10 MLS games.
Don’t you think they will be motivated on Wednesday? I do.
On the positive side, in their last 3 games the Crew have been explosive offensively, scoring 7 goals in 3 games. However since defenders Giancarlo Gonzales and Waylon Francis left for Costa Rica national team camp, the Crew conceded 5 goals.

RSL team has also 3 key players at the World Cup rosters, and they have all the rights to have some issues here and there, but they are still solid team. They will start the game with a motivation to rebound quickly from 0-4 loss in Seattle, but Crew are playing at home, and they seem to have better players available at the moment.
Well seasoned, experienced referee for this match Baldomero Toledo, not going to hesitate with penalty kick call if he has opportunity.
I’m confident about over 2.5 goals in this match, and also home field advantage should benefit hosts, so I,m also picking Crew to win.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: Crew to WIN
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

COLORADO RAPIDS vs CHICAGO FIRE 9 pm.

After two home wins in a row, Colorado team is on fire, and is hosting Chicago Fire. The Rapids scored 7 goals in their last 2 games vs Dynamo (3-0), and Impact (4-1), and Chicago team seem to be on the same level as those defeated teams, except team from Illinois has also almost always scores.

Chicago Fire started this season under new coach Frank Yallop, and they actually playing much better than their record shows, and in their 12 matches, they had only one game without scoring a goal. They likely will score at DSG Park as well, but I believe Rapids will win this one.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: Rapids to WIN
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: OVER 2.5 goals

MONTREAL IMPACT vs TORONTO FC 7:30 pm.

*Canadian Championship Match
This is NOT an MLS game, but second leg of Canadian Championship series, and here is why I’m expecting low scoring affair at Saputo Stadium today;
Impact can win Canadian Championship with a win or just a 0-0 tie. Game will go to overtime if there is a 1-1 tie. A tie greater than 1-1 will give TFC the title on away goals. Those games are typically very close, and both teams will put lots of attention to their defensive lines.

Expect low scoring match, with high probability of draw, perhaps even overtime and penalty kicks.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: DRAW
CHRIS’S PREDICTION: UNDER 2.5 goals
