MLS Wednesday Preview, Picks and Predictions

Three matches on MLS Wednesday starting 26th week of the season, and results might bring some serious changes in the standings, and affect playoffs race. If Los Angeles Galaxy win tonight in Montreal, they will advance on the top of the Western Conference. Currently out of the playoffs picture Red Bulls hosting Eastern Conference leaders D.C. United, this is another must win match for New York team, of they want to compete in postseason. Vancouver Whitecaps are also currently out of playoffs zone, but win over inconsistent San Jose Earthquakes, will push the Caps to top five on the West.

The Galaxy and Red Bulls are my favorites to win tonight, and we should see more than two goals in Vancouver.

Current Week 26 record 00 (accuracy 50.00 % )

Last Week 25 record 159 (accuracy 62.50 % )

2014 MLS Predictions record 227279 (accuracy 44.86 % )

*Keep in mind I’m only around 45 % in my accuracy this season, but I have been there before. I’m not blaming my self for my predictions, but the players, and sometimes referees, most of the time is their fault.:)

However, despite poor start of the campaign, I’m confident trough the season, I should be able to get back to over 50%, but obvious goal is to cross 54% as earlier as possible.

Picks and predictions are usually published here at least 1-2 hours before the game time.

MONTREAL IMPACT vs. LA GALAXY, 7:30 PM

The six goals by the Galaxy in their rout of Colorado last Friday matched the club’s third-highest total ever in a game – the most they’ve scored since the 1998 season, when they had games of six, seven and eight goals. The six goals are the most by one team in an MLS game since 2012, when Seattle defeated Chivas USA 6-2.

Landon Donovan added another chapter to his rewriting of MLS history, scoring two goals to move his career league total to 142. He was also credited with the game-winning goal, the 41st for his MLS career, also the most ever.
The Impact saw their road winless streak extended to 16 games in their 3-2 defeat at the Houston Dynamo on Saturday. The Impact are still without a victory away from home, trying to avoid becoming the sixth team to finish a season without a road win.
The teams are meeting for the first time ever at Stade Saputo. The teams played to a 1-1 draw in their first meeting, May 12, 2012 at Olympic Stadium in Montréal. The Galaxy claimed a 1-0 victory last year at StubHub Center in their only encounter.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION:GALAXY to WINOVER 2.5 Goals

NEW YORK RED BULLS vs. D.C. UNITED, 8:00 PM

The teams are meeting for the third time this season, and United have won the first two. Luis Silva and Eddie Johnson scored second-half goals in a 2-0 D.C. victory on Aug. 31 at RFK Stadium; Davy Arnaud’s goal after just four minutes proved the difference in a 1-0 United win April 12.
United haven’t won at Red Bull Arena in league play since 2011, when they claimed a 1-0 victory. But they did win there in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2012.
The Red Bulls won their third consecutive home game and extended their undefeated streak at Red Bull Arena to six matches in their 2-1 win against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. The Red Bulls have lost back-to-back road games and haven’t won on the road since June 8, a span of five games.

D.C. United recorded back-to-back shutouts for a second consecutive match in their scoreless draw at Vancouver on Saturday evening. United have allowed just 30 goals this season, second-fewest in MLS – a year ago they allowed 59 goals, the second-most in the league.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION:RED BULLS to WINUNDER 2.5 Goals

VANCOUVER WHITECAPS vs. SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES, 8:00 PM

Chris Wondolowski scored a pair of goals in the Quakes’ 3-3 draw at Portland on Sunday afternoon. It was his second multiple-goal game this season, and he now has 12 goals this season, seven of those coming since his return from the World Cup (in a 10-game span).
Whitecaps FC were shut out for a fourth consecutive game in their scoreless draw against D.C. United on Saturday evening at BC Place. They have gone 411 minutes since scoring last, the third-longest drought in MLS this season and the longest streak in the club’s four-year MLS history.

The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Pedro Morales scored twice as Whitecaps FC took an early 3-0 lead; Chris Wondolowski netted twice for the Quakes, but Vancouver still took the 3-2 victory May 3 at BC Place.
The Earthquakes have never won in Vancouver, as Whitecaps FC have won their last four home meetings between the clubs. Whitecaps FC have never won at Buck Shaw Stadium. But in four meetings all-time in Santa Clara, the Quakes have won only once – a 3-1 win in 2012.
CHRIS’S PREDICTION:EARTHQUAKES to WINOVER 2.5 Goals
