FC Dallas vs Colorado Rapids Preview and Prediction

MLS Friday invites to Western Conference rivals face off in this week’s edition of Viernes de Futbol (7 p.m. ET, UniMás) as FC Dallas play host to a Colorado Rapids, a struggling club, searching for their first goal and win of the season, but points at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, are not that easy to take.

The 63rd regular season matchup between the two clubs will be one where the two sides will try to rebound after both of their undefeated starts to the season ended last week. FC Dallas leads the series 31-20-11 and are riding a three-game win streak against the Rapids.

The FC Dallas are heavy favorites, and their win is also my PREMIUM PICK for today.

Current Week 6 record 22 (accuracy 50.00 % )
Last Week 5 record 97 (accuracy 56.25 % )
2015 season record 4943 (accuracy 53.33 % )
2015 Season PREMIUM PICKS 86 (accuracy 58.33 %)
2014 MLS Predictions record 318345 (accuracy 47.96 % )

Picks and predictions are usually published here at least one hour before the game time, but please be aware that sometimes based on last minute pregame developments we might change our prediction.

Friday, April 8
FC Dallas saw their undefeated start to the season come to an end, losing 3-1 to the Portland Timbers on Saturday evening at Providence Park, despite a second goal this year from Tesho Akindele.

FC Dallas have recorded a draw and a loss after opening the year with three consecutive wins, and they are hungry for a win, and coach Oscar Pareja will have his team ready to face the Rapids.

The Rapids also saw their undefeated start to the season come to an end, falling 2-0 to the New England Revolution on Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

The Rapids started the season probably not the way they want to, but very consistent. Colorado team had opened the 2015 campaign with an MLS record three consecutive scoreless draws.
With the loss to New England, the Rapids saw their overall winless streak reach 18 matches, tying the all-time MLS record set by Real Salt Lake in 2005-06. The Rapids are 23 minutes away from the all-time record for a scoreless streak to start an MLS season (Toronto FC, 2007); they have now not scored a goal in their last 600 minutes in league play.
FC Dallas has a three-game winning streak alive against the Rapids, winning all three meetings a season ago. FC Dallas has won the last four meetings between the teams in Frisco, Colorado last winning there in 2012.

I was unable to find any reason, why all the sudden Rapids would win this Friday, so I’m backing FC Dallas convincing win, and likely total over 2.5 goals in this match.
