Sporting Kansas City vs New England Revolution 4-2

Sporting team got some unexpected extra rest, their  scheduled match vs the Colorado Rapids on last Saturday evening was postponed due to bad weather. Their last match, Sporting played on May 9,  a 1-1 draw with D.C. United on May 9 at RFK Stadium, which extended their run to three games without loss.

The Revolution are undefeated in their last 9 matches, after their second consecutive tie, a 1-1 vs Toronto FC on Saturday evening at home Gillette Stadium. This is the second-longest unbeaten streak in the Revolution club history. Can they extend it in KC?

The Revolution won all three meetings between the clubs a season ago. They won 3-2 on Sept. 26 in the only meeting at Sporting Park – it was New England’s first in in Kansas City since 2008, a 3-1 win on April 9, ending an eight-game winless streak there.

Sporting coach Peter Vermes, talks about his concerns about this game, because his team missing a few key players, but that could be misleading a bit. The Sporting as club is well known for good scouting, and Peter Vermes is a great motivator, and replacements are for this game are good enough to at least compete with the Revs.

With a few exceptions, for most of the season both teams, are very low scoring, with decent defensive formations. I don’t expect many goals in this match, especially because coaches like to rotate players in midweek games.

Even with missing players, well rested fresh legs of the Sporting team, plus home field advantage makes them a minimal, but favorite over Revs.
