FC Dallas clinched the playoffs last Sunday with impressive 4-1 victory over Texas rivals Dynamo, but now without their top scorer Fabian Castillo, travels to Vancouver to face winless in last three games, but motivated Whitecaps.

Picks and predictions are usually published here at least one hour before the game time, but please be aware that sometimes based on last minute pre game developments we might change our prediction.

“It gets intense in there” is the message game promo sending.

FC Dallas have been explosive in their attack, scored 4 goals, in always important Texas Derby vs Dynamo.

The Whitecaps wasted ideal opportunity to cash 3 points on the road in San Jose. Vancouver team played well, had the lead after nice goal by Techera, but Chris Wondolowski came with equalizer. In the final seconds of the game Quakes keeper David Bingham was able to stop the ball when two Whitecaps players ran on him with what looked like sure game winner. The Whitecaps, have all the rights to be disappointed after 3 winless games, and for sure will try to recover those points at home vs FC Dallas.

The Whitecaps likely will miss Sam Adekugbe, Kianz Froese, Marco Bustos – all three been called to Canadian National Team for friendly vs Ghana. Also Caleb Clarke will be with Canada U-23 in Olympic Qualifiers. Ben McKendry is out because of knee surgery.

The Whitecaps top scorer Octavio Rivero had problems with right Achilles tendon strain, but already played full 90 minutes in San Jose, and even wasn’t his best game, he is getting back in form.

FC Dallas will miss only one player, but very important for them, team top scorer Fabian Castillo, who was called by Colombia National Team.

The winner of this match will advance to the top of the Western Conference, but in case of tie FC Dallas will also take lead on the West. This is crucial final part of regular season, and higher ranked team earn home field advantage, which could be a huge benefit in case they advance to MLS Cup final.

After 4 winlesss games (one includes 0-3 loss to Sounders in CONCACAF Champions League), the Whitecaps motivation must be high. They play at home, coming back from full of frustration trip to San Jose, and having ambitions to be the Western leaders, they are obviously hungry for points. They have to capitalize at home, and take advantage of what seem to be ideal opportunity for home team, because FC Dallas lately struggling big time away from Texas.
In last 5 road games, FC Dallas have won only once, and lost 4 times, but that also includes tough trips to KC and LA. FC Dallas are second best home team in entire MLS, only LA Galaxy has better home record, so Texans feel much more comfortable at home, where they will play the Whitecaps one more time in regular season, a  week later in Frisco, Texas.
For FC Dallas this is not as important match, they struggling on the road, and yes in order to get far in the playoffs they need badly home field advantage, but they also have except this one, 3 games in hand. I don’t think FC Dallas having playoffs in perspective, want to go all in, and risk some injuries on artificial turf at BC Place in Vancouver. Likely they will take it easy out there.

Even a single point in Vancouver should make FC Dallas coach Oscar Pareja very happy, because after Wednesday match his team still has 3 more games to play. After rematch with Whitecaps at home, they will travel to RSL, and in final game of the season, host the Earthquakes, which seem to be winable.

Another words FC Dallas has plenty of room for error, but Whitecaps don’t. That’s why I’m picking them as winners, with a few goals total in the game.
