UEFA Europa League – Group Stage Draw
The UEFA Europa League group stage draw threw up several intriguing match-ups with 2010 winners Club Atlético de Madrid taking on Udinese Calcio and Stade Rennais FC in Group I, and Tottenham Hotspur FC meeting FC Rubin Kazan and surprise package Shamrock Rovers FC in Group A.
Draw which took place in Monaco, split 48 teams into 12 groups with other highlights including the pairing of Paris Saint-Germain FC and Athletic Club, and 2011 runners-up SC Braga facing Club Brugge KV, English second-tier club Birmingham City FC and NK Maribor.
UEFA Champions League – Group Stage DRAW
Holders FC Barcelona will meet AC Milan, FC BATE Borisov and FC Viktoria Plzeň in the UEFA Champions League group stage following the draw in Monaco. The top seeds in Group H, Josep Guardiola’s side are looking to become the first team to win the competition in successive seasons since Milan in 1989 and 1990, while FC Bayern München are targeting a place in the final at their home stadium, the Fußball Arena München, on Saturday 19 May 2012. If they are to reach the knockout phase, they must finish in the top two in Group A, which also features Villarreal CF, Manchester City FC and SSC Napoli.

The build-up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011 quickened to a fever pitch on Tuesday evening as the Official Draw put teams in their venues and mouth-watering match-ups into the tournament schedule. Held at the famous Sala Nezahualcóyotl concert hall in the heart of Mexico City, the draw ended a nervous wait for the 24 finalists as they discovered the identity of their rivals in the group phase, which kicks off with hosts Mexico taking on Korea DPR in Morelia on 18 June.

Today at the San Siro in Inter Milan’s 2-1 aggregate semi-final Coppa Italia success over Roma, veteran defender and captain Javier Zanetti participated in the 1,000th competitive match of his eventful football career. To mark the occasion, the Argentinian defender wore a commemorative captain’s armband bearing the inscription “the 1000-match Hall of Fame”, a legend that also appeared below the Inter crest on his shirt.
UEFA announced the ticket prices for the Final Tournament of the UEFA European Football Championship, to be held in Poland and Ukraine from 08 June to 01 July 2012. Prices range from 30 to 600 euros and several types of tickets will be available for purchase via UEFA.com exclusively from 01 March to 31 March 2011.

FIFA decided on the slots for the 2014 World Cup – Canada will host 2015 Women’s World Cup
The committee decided on the slots for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™, which will be as follows: AFC 4.5, CAF 5.0, CONCACAF 3.5, CONMEBOL 4.5, OFC 0.5, UEFA 13.0 and one slot the host Brazil. This is the same distribution of slots as for the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups™. For the play-offs relating to the half slots, a draw will determine how the four confederations involved (AFC, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and OFC) will pair off. Sufficient time will be allowed between the home and away legs of these play-offs.
UPDATE Tickets for UEFA Champions League Final running from $2,943 US
UEFA announced in London that the ticket sales for the UEFA Champions League Final 2011, to be played at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday 28 May at 19.45 local time, will commence on Thursday 24 February at 12.00 CET exclusively via Europe’s football website UEFA.com
The general public will be able to apply for up to two tickets per applicant from an allocation of 11,000 tickets between 24 February 12.00 CET to 18 March 2011 18.00 CET. Once the application period has finished, allocation will be decided by lottery and every valid application will enter the ballot, independent of the time of submission within the application period.
