Since being acquired from the San Jose Earthquakes for allocation money on June 27, the central defender has become a crucial part of United’s defensive success. Scottish Premier League club Glasgow Rangers have signed USA defender Carlos Bocanegra on a three-year deal.
Ally McCoist’s recruitment drive has gathered pace over the last few days and former Fulham full-back Bocanegra, 32, is the latest to arrive at Ibrox.
Bocanegra, who joins from French side Saint-Etienne, could play in tomorrow’s UEFA Europa League play-off against Maribor should he receive international clearance.
