CHICAGO, IL (May 30, 2011) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Monday that the club has named Technical Director Frank Klopas as Interim Head Coach, replacing Carlos de los Cobos, effective immediately. De los Cobos led the Fire to 10-16-15 record, including going 1-4-6 to start the 2011 season, over the course of 41 games in 2010-2011. The former El Salvador Head Coach was hired by the Fire prior to the start of the 2010 MLS season. Read More »

The San Jose Earthquakes stretched their unbeaten streak to three games with a 2-1 win over the New England Revolution Saturday night at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Quakes came to life in the second half with goals from Ellis McLoughlin and Bobby Convey. McLoughlin headed home his first career goal following a perfect cross from Chris Wondolowski in the 71st minute to open the scoring. Convey then curled home an incredible free kick to give San Jose a two-goal cushion. Revs midfielder Chris Tierney scored a free kick of his own in the 86th minute to cut the score to 2-1, but the Quakes held on to win their second straight game at home. Read More »
